It is imperative that we employ that same level of determination to elect a matrix of local and state level politicians to support President Obama so that all the promises that we dreamed of jointly during the election can be realized. What a failure we are as a generation if we have no substance to support all of the hard work that we put into bringing this historical movement to life. Politicking 101 will give you a plausible platform to play your role alongside thousands of others so that we can reignite the fire that blazed a trail in 2008. November 2010 will be the next major milestone in this never ending saga.
Now here we are; more connected, more educated, more advanced and appearing to be everything but standing for nothing. In 2008, 5 percent of the African American youth voted, which is the highest turnout rate of any youth racial/ethnic group since 1972. In the 2009 and 2010 statewide elections, the youth turnout had been low compared to the 2006 midterm election. As a member of this detrimental generation, why is this trend so prevalent? We have to ask ourselves where are we getting our news? To whom or what are we putting our trust in with keeping us abreast of vital issues that truly affect our day to day lives? Politicking 101 is more than a phrase but an unbiased movement that serves as a roadmap for a better quality of life. One does not make bad decisions on purpose but from bad information or lack of information. Whats your reason?
